President Trump has designated portions of Nebraska as a disaster area, prompting the Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program. Individuals that are unemployed due to a direct result of a major disaster declared by the President may be eligible for DUA benefits. The other qualifications for eligibility include the worker not qualifying for regular unemployment insurance benefits. Self-employed workers like farmers, for example, may also be eligible if they are no longer able to work because of physical damage or destruction to their place of employment.
